Foodborne Illness


Nebraska laws and regulations on foodborne illnesses regulate which illnesses need to be reported, the timeframe for reporting, and who is responsible for reporting. Reportable illnesses include, among others, botulism, listeriosis, and E.coli. Required reporting times vary from immediate for large outbreaks to up to a week for certain other illnesses. In some instances, the law may even require reporting of only suspected cases and the submission of samples alongside the report.
